Deion Sanders, the head coach of Colorado football and father of quarterback Shedeur Sanders, recently shared his thoughts on his son’s potential landing spot in the 2025 NFL Draft.
During a conversation with former NFL receiver Chad Johnson, Sanders hinted that the Miami Dolphins could be a good fit for his son.
Sanders questioned what the Dolphins would do in the draft, considering their current quarterback situation with Tua Tagovailoa.
He wondered if the Dolphins would take a quarterback or stick with Tagovailoa, citing health concerns.
Johnson noted that Sanders seemed to want his son to land in Miami, to which Sanders replied that he wants what’s best for Shedeur and for him to be happy.
Sanders acknowledged that as a father, he can’t dictate where his son gets drafted, but he has preferences.
He mentioned that some teams are consistently unsuccessful and wouldn’t be a good fit for his son or other family members.
Earlier this spring, Sanders mentioned that there are certain cities where he wouldn’t want his son or fellow Colorado star Travis Hunter to play.
He referenced the “Eli saga,” where Eli Manning declined to play for the San Diego Chargers and was traded to the New York Giants.
Sanders stressed the importance of entering the league as part of a stable organization.
He wants his son to avoid cold climates and prefers a team with a winning culture.
Shedeur Sanders is projected to be one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft, and his father’s comments have sparked interest in his potential landing spot.
