The Pro Football Hall of Fame has announced its preliminary list of modern-era nominees for the Class of 2025, and nine former Miami Dolphins players have made the cut.
Here are the former Dolphins among the 167 initial nominees:
1. RB Ricky Williams
2. WR Irving Fryar
3. WR Brandon Marshall
4. WR Wes Welker
5. OG Josh Sitton
6. OT Richmond Webb
7. LB Brendon Ayanbadejo
8. CB Troy Vincent
9. P Matt Turk
While all of these players suited up for the Dolphins at some point, some are more well-remembered for their contributions to other teams. Vincent, for instance, earned five Pro Bowl nods with the Philadelphia Eagles, while Sitton was a stalwart on the Green Bay Packers’ offensive line.
However, one name that will draw much attention from Dolphins fans is Richmond Webb. The seven-time Pro Bowler has been an initial nominee several times but has yet to reach the semifinalist phase of voting.
Webb is down to his final three years of eligibility before the senior committee will consider his candidacy. Will this be the year he finally gets his due as one of the all-time greats?
The list of 167 nominees will be trimmed to 25 semifinalists this fall, and then 15 finalists in January. Dolphins fans will be rooting for Webb to make the cut.
With his impressive resume and growing support, Webb’s induction into the Hall of Fame is long overdue. Let’s hope this is the year he finally gets the recognition he deserves.
