Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is hopeful to return to the field on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans after practicing on Wednesday for the first time since his knee injury in Week 1.
Love suffered the injury in a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and has been sidelined since. However, he’s taking a day-by-day approach to his recovery and is optimistic about his chances of playing on Sunday.
“I’m going to take the week and just take it day by day and see how it feels,” Love said on Wednesday. “I’m not going to make any decisions right now. I’m hopeful that I can get to that point where I can get in there, but we’re just going to take it day by day.”
In Love’s absence, Malik Willis filled in as quarterback in the Packers’ Week 2 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Willis completed 12 of 14 attempts for 122 yards and added 41 yards on the ground.
The Packers tailored their game plan towards the ground attack with Love sidelined, with running back Josh Jacobs tallying 151 yards on 32 attempts. This approach paid off, as the Packers secured a win without their starting quarterback.
If Love is unable to play on Sunday, Willis will get another chance to lead the team. Interestingly, Willis will face his former team, the Titans, who traded him to the Packers for a 2025 seventh-round pick in August.
The Packers have remained optimistic about Love’s recovery, with coach Matt LaFleur stating prior to Week 2 that the quarterback would not go on IR. Love’s potential return on Sunday will be a welcome boost to the team as they look to build on their Week 2 victory.
