Tyreek Hill, the Miami Dolphins wide receiver, seemed to react in jest to a rumor that Cam Newton was spotted at a Dolphins practice.
The rumor is unclear, and it’s unknown if Newton actually attended a practice.
The Dolphins are currently navigating some turbulence at the quarterback position, with Tua Tagovailoa out with a concussion.
Skylar Thompson is expected to start against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
The Dolphins recently added quarterback Tyler Huntley due to Tagovailoa’s injury.
Cam Newton hasn’t played in the NFL for a few years, last logging eight games and five starts with the Carolina Panthers in 2021.
Newton spent 11 seasons in the NFL, mostly with the Panthers, and earned league MVP honors at one point.
He also spent one season with the New England Patriots in 2020.
It’s unlikely that Newton will suit up for the Dolphins anytime soon, but if he did attend a practice, perhaps he was offering advice to Thompson.
Thompson will attempt to lead the Dolphins to their second win of the season on Sunday.
